The permanent exhibits highlight local subjects featuring astronomy, fossil trackways and the Chihuahuan Desert. New Mexico has played an important role in the science of Space research due to its clear skies and high altitude. A projection globe presents information on astronomy and Earth Sciences. The local Desert ecosystems are represented by live animals and promote stewardship of the fragile environment. The feature exhibit is a 280 million year old trackway of an ancient Pelycosaur reptile.
